Symptoms

VM backups performed through the NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) vProxy appliance fail

The vProxy log reports:

Cause

A manual attempt to take a snapshot of the VM is failing within vCenter.

Resolution

Workaround:

  1. vMotion the VM to another ESXi host.
  2. Run the manual snapshot again.
  3. Once a manual snapshot succeeds, the VM backup on the vProxy progresses
Contact VMware Support if a manual snapshot fails or if snapshot failures are persistent.
