Symptoms

This behaviour concerns Virtual Machine backups using transparent Virtual Machine snapshots (TSDM).
  1. Backups may use additional space on the target Data Domain for its replication copy
  2. Data domain Virtual edition deployed on Cloud Platform may consume high metadata space
  3. There may be poor replication performance.

Cause

This occurs due to a defect in the current TSDM backup workflow.

Resolution

This defect is fixed in PowerProtect Data Manager v19.13 and higher.
An Hotfix is available for PowerProtect Data Manager v19.12.
