NetWorker: vProxy Backup tasks stuck in vCenter as orphan tasks appear in vCenter as a "NetWorker Backup"

Symptoms

The VMware vSphere user interface shows
Multiple NetWorker Backup Status appear as 88% 81% 67% .. 30% 21% 7% etc

vSphere client tasks screenshot

Cause

The NSR Hypervisor "console events" field is set to Yes.

Resolution

Run ./ProxyHC tasks to clear the tasks from vSphere.
  • To permanently disable the tasks in the vSphere user interface, set the NetWorker NSR hypervisor resource's "console events" to no
  • Also, to revoke the option of stopping NetWorker Backup from vSphere user interface, another option called "console cancel" can be set to no
Disabling these options prevents the tasks from appearing in the vSphere web client. It also reduces the number of VMware API calls made between NetWorker and the vCenter server.

Sample Commands and Outputs are below:

# ./ProxyHC tasks
