Il pasticcio del registro supportconfig raccoglie vari registri di sistema, file di configurazione e output dei comandi da un sistema SUSE o SLES Linux. Si tratta di un metodo standardizzato per raccogliere informazioni diagnostiche dal sistema operativo affinché vengano analizzate dagli ingegneri del dominio Dell e dal supporto dei vendor Linux.

In SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, il pacchetto "supportutils" fornisce il comando

"supportconfig".Per verificare l'installazione del pacchetto:

# rpm -q supportutils
supportutils-3.1.21-150300.7.35.15.1.noarch

Se per qualche motivo il pacchetto 'supportutils' non è installato, può essere installato usando 'zypper install supportutils':

# zypper install supportutils

Per generare un pacchetto di log supportconfig, eseguire come root:

# supportconfig

Il pacchetto di log (e il file checksum associato) viene in genere salvato in /var/log/. Le versioni precedenti di SLES possono essere salvate in una posizione diversa, ma ciò è specificato nell'output del comando:

# ls /var/log/scc*
/var/log/scc_leap15-1.local.net_230509_1258.txz
/var/log/scc_leap15-1.local.net_230509_1258.txz.md5

Una volta generato, l'utente potrebbe richiedere di copiare il pacchetto di log in un sistema locale. In genere, gli utenti utilizzano un'utilità SCP come 'WinSCP' per copiare o scaricare il file. Ciò richiede solo l'accesso SSH al server.
