OMEVV Firmware Deployment Basics:
Prerequisites:
- Servers must be added into OpenManage Enterprise or OpenManage Enterprise Integration for VMware vCenter (OMEVV)
- Firmware Repository Profile - a repository profile that uses firmware catalog to get the firmware information
- Baseline Profiles - Uses a repository profile as a baseline to compare firmware inventory with
- Support for three types of Repositories
- By default, has the Dell Online Catalog as synced from OpenManage Enterprise
- Any custom repositories created off VSAN or ESXi in the OpenManage Enterprise Update Manager plug-in are synced automatically
- Custom Repositories created from Dell Repository Manager can be imported using Share
Creating a Custom Firmware Repository Profile:

Create a custom catalog export from Dell Repository Manager

Put the catalog on a supported Share type (NFS, CIFS, HTTP, and HTTPS)

On the OMEVV home page, click Compliance & Profiles > Profiles > Repository Profile > CREATE NEW PROFILE.

On the Repository Profile page of the wizard, read the instructions, and then click GET STARTED

On the Profile Name and Description page, enter the Profile Name and Description, and click NEXT

In the Repository Share Location area, add in the Share Protocol, Share location, and Credentials for CIFS and HTTPS

Select BEGIN TEST to validate the credentials and Share location

Finish out the wizard to add the Repository
Creating a Baseline Profile:

On the OMEVV home page, Compliance & Profiles > Profiles > Baseline Profile > CREATE BASELINE PROFILE

On the Baseline Profile page of the wizard, read the instructions, and click GET STARTED

On the Profile Name and Description page, enter the Profile Name and Description, and then click NEXT

On the Associate Profile page, select Firmware Repository Profile
NOTE: Ensure you use the vSAN catalog repository for vSAN nodes.

On the Associate Clusterpage, select the vCenter Instance and then the Cluster required to assign the Baseline Profile to
-
On the Schedule Drift Detection page, select the Days and Time, and then click NEXT

Finish the Wizard
