PowerProtect: How to configure PPDM to use local account on a Microsoft SQL server for backup

Instructions
The following are instructions to use a local account for Microsoft SQL server databases backup:
- Create a local Microsoft Windows user account on the host where Microsoft SQL server is installed and add user to the local Administrators group.
- Add a user account to Microsoft SQL Server Logins, assign required roles and permissions as per documentation.
- Configure credentials within PowerProtect Data Manager UI to be used for taking SQL database backup.
Creating a local Microsoft Windows user account:
- Open Computer Management.
- Under System Tools, expand Local Users and Groups.
- Select Users.
- Right-click and select New User.
- On the New User window, fill up the required details and select Create button.
Adding user to the local Administrators group:
- Within Computer Management, select Groups.
- Right click Administrators group and select Add to Group.
- Select Add button.
- On the Select Users, Computers, Service Accounts, or Groups window, select Locations button.
- On the Locations window, select hostname of the host running Microsoft SQL server services and select OK button.
- On the Select Users, Computers, Service Accounts, or Groups window, type the account name for the local user that was created in the section above and select Check Names button.
- Verify that the correct user is selected and select OK button.
Adding a local user account to Microsoft SQL Server Logins, assign roles and permissions:
- Start Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and open Object Explorer.
- Select the SQL server instance name.
- Expand Security followed by Logins.
- Right click on Logins and select New Login.
- On the Login - New window under General page, next to the Login Name field select Search button.
- On the Select User or Group window, make sure Locations is set to hostname and type username created in section above and select Check Names button.
- Select OK button once username is validated.
- Make sure Windows Authentication option is selected.
- On the Server Roles page, public would be already selected, select sysadmin server role. More information about this role requirement can be found in the PowerProtect Data Manager Microsoft SQL Server User Guide under Setting the sysadmin privilege for database OS account section.
- Select OK button.
Configure credentials within PowerProtect Data Manager UI to be used for SQL database backup:
- Log on to PowerProtect Data Manager UI.
- Select Infrastructure.
- Select Asset Sources.
- On the Asset Sources window, select the SQL tab.
- Select host entry and select Edit Credentials.
- Select Type as OS.
- In the Name field, add how you want to identify credentials within PowerProtect Data Manager.
- Next to User Name type the username of the user created in the section above. While typing username, only type username without @ sign or without \ sign. Since it is not a domain user, we do not need to use @ sign and format using \ in the syntax is not supported.
- Select Save button.
