OpenManage Enterprise Integration for VMware for vCenter: How to Integrate Update Manager Repositories
Summary: The following article describes how to integrate Update Manager (UMP) repositories to OpenManage Enterprise Integration for VMware for vCenter (OMEVV).
Instructions
UpdateManager
Dell OpenManage Enterprise Update Manager plug-in brings Dell Repository Manager functionality to OpenManage Enterprise. This allows you to create one or more catalog repositories to use with OpenManage Enterprise or with OMEVV.
To learn more about the OpenManage Enterprise Update Manager Plug in, go to the Support for Dell OpenManage Enterprise Update Manager product page on Dell Support.
The following video shows the integration between Update Manager and OMEVV.
Pre-requisites:
- The Update Manager and OMEVV plugs must be installed in OpenManage Enterprise.
- Register the OMEVV plug-in to vCenter
- At least one host must be added to OMEVV inventory using vCenter > OMEVV plug-in > Compliance and Deployment > Management Compliance.
The sequence can be accomplished to create a repository in the Update Manager plug in Section in OpenManage Enterprise.
- In OpenManage Enterprise, go to the UMP Plug in > Repository.
- Click on Create Repository
- Provide a name for the Repository and Baseline (description is optional)
- To select the latest Dell catalog, select the latest Enterprise Server Catalog shown. For ESXi or VSAN-specific catalogs, select Index Catalog > VSAN or ESXI and then the appropriate catalog.
- Select the servers to map to the baseline.
- Click Finish
To map the repository to OMEVV, log in to the vCenter.
- Browse to the OMEVV Plug-in
- Click on Repository Profile
- After a few minutes of the catalog being created in UMP, it will synchronize automatically to OMEVV. The resulting repository can then be mapped to a Baseline.
- Click on Baseline Profile and click on Get Started
- Provide a name and click Next.
- Select the UMP created repository.
- Map to your corresponding cluster in vCenter
- Click Next and then Finish.
- OMEVV is ready to update using the UMP created repository.
The firmware update process and integration to VLCM is discussed in a subsequent article.
