PowerFlex: Gaps seen in CloudIQ graphs
Summary: Gaps are seen in CloudIQ (CIQ) performance graphs.
Symptoms
Scenario
In the Performance tab of CIQ, time gaps are visible between the performance counters in the graphs:
Impact
Although there is no issue with PowerFlex storage, the performance data on CloudIQ is incomplete.
Cause
Data collection flow:
- Every 5 s, PowerFlex GW collects performance data from the MDMs.
- Every 5 minutes, PowerFlex GW sends a compressed performance ZIP file to CIQ over Secure Connect Gateway (SCG).
Performance graphs in CIQ consist of accumulated performance data gathered from the MDMs and sent by the PowerFlex Gateway (GW).
CIQ expects the performance file to arrive at approximately 5 minutes (+2 s), and GW sends the file with a short delay of 15-19 s.
Performance files arrive later than CIQ expects, and CIQ cannot match them to fit the graph timetable.
For example:
The file powerflex_1696852800000_<SWID>_performance.zip contains the creation time "1696852800000" in epoch time, translating to Monday, October 09, 2023 12:00:00.000 PM
The performance file was created at 12:00:00 PM and was received in CIQ with a timestamp later than expected. The file that arrived at CIQ contains the creation time "1696853080389" in epoch time, which translates to Monday, October 09, 2023 12:04:40.389 PM and was mapped to the CIQ database at 12:05 PM.
This time difference creates a gap in the performance data graph.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, upgrade the PowerFlex system to the Fixed In Version mentioned below.
Impacted Version
PowerFlex 3.5.x
PowerFlex 3.6.3 and lower
Fixed In Version
