Dell Trusted Device Fails to Install When Deployed with Configuration Manager

Symptoms

 

When deploying a Dell Trusted Device by Microsoft Configuration Manager and using a deployment type of Windows installer (.msi file), the installation fails with Error 1603.

The installation log shows:

-- MSI LOGGING -- Existing Product Version: , Minimum Product Version to check against: 2.7.99.0
-- MSI LOGGING -- Exception ModifyTDLocallyCachedMsi: Version string portion was too short or too long.

Resolution

 

A Script deployment type should be used instead.
