Symptoms

After rebooting, vCenter services fail to start, waiting for the lookupsvc service.
While troubleshooting we tried to start the rhttpproxy service, but it also failed to start.
While checking the rhttpproxy logs, it shows the below error:
Cannot assign requested address

Cause

The customer had remarked the 127.0.0.1 address in the hosts file.
Picture shows the 127 address with a hash in the front of it.

Resolution

If the vCenter hostname is the FQDN, then the hosts file should look like below:
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 localhost.localdomain localhost
VC IP hostname shortname
