Symptoms

NMC database backup fails after upgrading to NetWorker 19.11.

Errors in the policy action log: 
108179:savepsm: Replicating database contents to C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management\nmcdb_stage\pgdata...
108180:savepsm: Unable to execute C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management\GST\postgres_latest\bin\pg_basebackup.exe in order to copy the database
108181:savepsm: See 'C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management\GST\logs\pg_basebackup.log' for details

Cause

With NetWorker 19.11, Postgres has been updated to version 12.18. However, the postgres_link under C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management\GST is still linked to Postgres 11.21.

This is an example of the erroneous link:

 <SYMLINKD>     postgres_latest [C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management\GST\postgres\11.21]

Resolution

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

1) Go to C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management\GST.
2) Delete the link postgres_latest.
3) Re-create the link to point to the Postgres 12.18 folder.

mklink /D "C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management\GST\postgres_latest" "C:\Program Files\EMC NetWorker\Management\GST\postgres\12.18"
