Symptoms
tmp/license_alc.xml:1: parser error : Document is empty
License install failed - Invalid license, please contact your reseller.
License install failed - License operation is currently blocked , please try again later.Cause
This occurs when a certificate (during the process of importation) goes through a DOS/Microsoft Windows transition.
The DOS/Windows system places a ^M (carriage return ) character at the end of a valid footer, which results in the validation failure.
- On a Unix machine, use the command to check for unwanted characters.
'cat -v '
Example:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><licenseInfo>^M

WorkAround:
-Unwanted characters could be removed by using the below command:
'unix2dos '
Or
- While using Windows machine, download the license file again but do NOT open it in any text editor. Apply the certificate directly using WebTools.
Resolution:
There is a software defect (FOS-849790) which addresses this issue - fix was implemented in FOS v9.2.0b and 9.2.1.
