Symptoms
During installation of Windows Server 2025 using iDRAC virtual media, an unallocated space with 0 B size can be seen on the drive selection page.
This disk with size 0 Bytes cannot be used for operating system installation, and cannot be removed even with the DiskPart utility.
Affected operating systems include: Windows Server 2025
All supported PowerEdge platforms for this operating system are affected.
Cause
This disk with 0 B is the iDRAC Virtual Floppy used by iDRAC virtual media to install Windows Server 2025. This device is exposed to the host by the iDRAC when using iDRAC virtual media (iDRAC USB, CD, DVD, or ISO).
This is working as designed.
Resolution
Unallocated space with 0 B can be ignored.
