Symptoms
Battery drain and performance issues after updating the BIOS
You may experience one of the following issues after updating the BIOS on your G Series gaming laptop:
Two issues may occur after updating the BIOS (Version 1.29.0 or 1.30.0):
- The laptops performance is worse.
- The speed of the laptop battery drain while sitting idle doubles and reduces the time that the battery is in use.
It affects the following G-Series Laptops:
- G16 7620 Gaming Laptop
- G15 5521 Gaming Laptop
- G15 5520 Gaming Laptop
Cause
There is a code change in those BIOS versions which impacts performance and increases the battery drain.
Resolution
Note: You must have administrator rights on your laptop to make any operating system changes or update any software.
Update the BIOS to Dell G15 5520/5521 and G16 7620 System BIOS, version 1.31.0 or later. Use the instructions in the following link to download and install the Dell_G15_5520_5521_G16_7620_1.31.0.exe update on your laptop:
