Affected Operating Systems:

  • Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021

Starting with the 2508 (August of 2025) release of Windows IoT Enterprise, TightVNC is no longer installed on devices shipped from the factory or in any newly released e-support images and software packages moving forward. This affects both Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 and Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 operating systems.

Dell does not uninstall TightVNC from existing thin clients and Wyse Management Suite (WMS) continues to allow its use for remote shadow functionality.

Dell no longer recommends the use of TightVNC (Peer to Peer in WMS replaces TightVNC). If your organization still uses TightVNC, it must be installed on newer thin clients. Instructions for deploying TightVNC using WMS as it has been installed on previous thin clients are provided in the Windows 10 and 11 LTSC Administrator guides.
