Dell Client Device Manager proactively collects telemetry data from your computer and provides system utilization insights. The telemetry data is always encrypted and collected on the box. The collected information is then sent to Dell Technologies to improve the customer experience.

 

There are two key aspects to the telemetry data of Dell Client Device Manager that is collected from your computer:

Telemetry Type Key Aspect What is Included
Required Used to monitor application health and identify errors. The required data is always sent to Dell when the IT admin installs Dell Client Device Manager | Update or Dell Client Device Manager | Security modules on a computer.
  • Service Tag (encrypted), OS version, model information, region
  • Application-related data (version, failure codes, so forth), timestamp for telemetry data
  • Hardware-related data (version, failure codes, so forth), timestamp for telemetry data
Optional Used to analyze feature performance and device-related metrics to improve the application and its services.
  • Feature usage (disabled or enabled), USB connection data, BIOS version, BIOS verification
  • BIOS, Battery, CPU, Docks, Memory, Drivers, Thermal and other hardware component information
  • Battery analytics, BIOS log, CPU power data, and other interpreted data Dell uses to improve serviceability
