Removing the display assembly

Steps

  1. Follow the procedure in Before Working Inside Your Computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. stand
    2. back cover
    3. cable cover
    4. speaker cover
    5. VESA mount bracket
    6. system-board shield
    7. WLAN card
    8. optical drive
    9. hard drive
    10. intrusion switch
    11. OSD buttons board
    12. converter board
    13. power-supply unit
    14. heatsink
    15. processor fan
    16. speakers
    17. system board
    NOTE These instructions are valid only for non-touch computers. For touch computers, the display panel should be disassembled in a clean-room environment.
  3. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Remove the power-switch cable from the retention clip [1].
    2. Unthread the camera cable from the retention clips on the display panel [2].

  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Peel off the tape to access the cables [1].
    2. Remove the screws that secure the base panel to the chassis [2].
    3. Lift the display-panel base from the display bezel [3].

  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Lift the latch and disconnect the cables [1,2].
    2. Remove the screws that secure the display assembly to the chassis [3].
    3. Lift the display assembly away from the computer [4].
