Setting the Windows password

Set the Windows password to be able to log in to the jump host initially.

Prerequisites

The Cyber Recovery solution is deployed on Google Cloud Platform.

About this task

You must set a Windows password as there is no default password.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Google Cloud portal.
  2. Click Compute Engine.
  3. Click the jump host instance of the Cyber Recovery jump host, which the Terraform template deployed.
  4. Click SET WINDOWS PASSWORD.
  5. In the Set new Windows password window, type a username.
    The username field defaults to the Google username that is logged in. Best practice is to set a new username, for example, cradmin. You cannot use administrator as a username.
  6. Click SET.
    The New Windows password window displays the password that is generated. Ensure that you record the password in a secure location. If you forget the password, run these steps again to reset the password.

Results

The Windows password enables you to use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) to log in to the jump host. From the jump host, you can log in to the Cyber Recovery management host.
