To configure PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DDVE) and storage, use the container that was created during the
deployment.
You can find the container in the Azure Portal in the storage account that was created as part of the deployment. Go to the resource group that was used or created as part of the deployment, click the storage account, and then click the containers in the left pane.
For information about how to configure DDVE and storage, see the
PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition in Azure Installation and Administration Guide at the
Dell Online Support. However, you must perform several steps that are not described in the guide:
For the vault DD ethV1 interface to be routed outside of its subnet, add a gateway to the ethV1 interface to add an entry for it in the route table:
Run the
net route show tables ipversion ipv4 command to show the route table.
Note the gateway IP address for the entry for the ethV0 interface that uses 0.0.0.0 as the destination address, which is usually the first in the list.
Run the
net route add gateway <gateway-ip> interface ethV1 command to add the gateway to the ethV1 interface, where
gateway-ip is the gateway IP address noted in the previous step.
Run the
system reboot command to reboot the DD system.
Azure might provide an FQDN for the DD system that is too long and does not work when you create a replication context. Change the FQDN if it is greater than 62 characters. On the vault DD, and the production DD system if it is running on Azure, configure the DD network settings and change the FQDN using either the DD UI through the jump host or DD command-line interface through the
Cyber Recovery host. The new FQDN must be 62 characters or less. For information about how to set the hostname, see the
Setting the DD System Manager hostname topic in the
DDOS Administration Guide at
Dell Online Support.
After you configure the network, use the
ifconfig ethV1 down command to disable the ethV1 before you set up the
Cyber Recovery vault DD file system. Use the
ifconfig ethV1 up command to re-enable ethV1 when the file system setup is complete.
NOTE:
You can access the DDVE UI directly after you log in to the jump host.
You cannot access the DDVE command-line interface (CLI) directly from the jump host by using SSH. Use SSH to access the
Cyber Recovery management host. Then, from the
Cyber Recovery management host, use SSH to access the DDVE CLI.
For information about how to restore data to the production system, see the
Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery Product Guide at the
Dell Online Support.
