Deploying the Cyber Recovery software to Microsoft Azure

Use the Azure Resource Manager (ARM) template to deploy the Cyber Recovery software to the Microsoft Azure cloud.

Prerequisites

  • All the prerequisites that are described in Chapter 2 are met.
  • The ARM template (CR_ARM.json) and the parameters template (CR_ARM_param.json) have been acquired.

About this task

Performing the following steps takes approximately 15 minutes.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Azure portal.
  2. In the Search field, type deploy custom template and select the result.
  3. In the Custom deployment pane, click Build your own template in the editor.
    The Edit template pane opens.
  4. Click Load file, select the CR_ARM.json file, and then click Open.
    The CR_ARM.json file contents are copied into the Edit template pane.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Edit Parameters, click Load file, select the CR_ARM_param.json file, and then click Open.
  7. Click Save.
    The Custom deployment pane displays the fields that you must complete for the deployment.
  8. For the Resource group field, click Create new, type a meaningful name in the pop-up pane, and click OK.
  9. Complete the parameter fields that are described in the following table:

    Fields Description
    Region Select a region in which the deployment will reside.
    Resource Prefix Type a prefix for the resources in the resource group. This prefix is attached to all the resources that are deployed.
    Address spaces:
    • Vnet Address Space
    • Jump Host Subnet Address Space
    • CR DDVE Subnet Address Space
    • Data Domain Mgmt Ip Address
    • Data Domain Replication Ip Address
    • PPCR Mgmt Ip Address
    • Jump Host Ip Address
    • Production Client Ip Address
    Type the CIDR range for each address space.
    DD sizing:
    • Os Disk Type
    • Data Domain Virtual Machine Size
    • Number of Metadata Disks
    Select the sizing information of the DDVE system.
    Usernames and passwords:
    • Data Domain Username
    • Data Domain System Password
    • Jump Host Admin Username
    • Jump Host Admin Password
    • CR Mgmt Host Admin Username
    • CR Mgmt Host Admin Password
    Type the appropriate usernames and passwords.
    NOTE:For the Jump Host password, ensure that the password is a minimum of 14 characters, otherwise you cannot log in when you access the jump host.
  10. Click Next: Review + create.
    The software validates the inputs and displays a Validation Passed message.
  11. Click Create at the bottom of the pane to start the deployment.
    The deployment is initialized and submitted. The Deployment is in progress message is displayed and components are listed as they are deployed. Then, the message changes to indicate that the deployment is completed.
  12. Click Go to resource group to see all the available resources.
    The list includes the VM, the jump host, the DDVE, and so on.

Install a supported browser executable file and other files to the jump host. However, because the jump host is a CIS-hardened Windows host, you must first:
