Removing the left fan

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Enter Service Mode.
  3. Remove the base cover.

Steps

  1. Lift the corner of the Mylar that covers the system board.
  2. Disconnect the left-fan cable from the system board.
  3. Remove the five screws (M2x5) that secure the right fan to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  4. Lift the left fan at an angle till the left fan disengages from the slot on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  5. Slide and lift the left fan off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
