Create a file pool policy for cloud storage (CLI)

You can create file pool policies that specify CloudPools actions to be applied to selected files.

About this task

To create CloudPool policies, use the isi filepool policies create command. Use the --cloud-pool option to specify the CloudPool storage pool for which you are creating the policy.

Steps

Run the isi filepool policies create command.
isi filepool policies create <policy-name> --cloud-pool <cloudpool-name> ....
In the above syntax, the ellipses (...) indicates that policy options need to be specified. There are many options for defining a policy:
  • You may define a filter that is applied to a set of files.
    • Often policies are defined based on the amount of time that has elapsed since the file was last modified. This requires you to state the elapsed time in years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, or seconds in a <duration> parameter. The format for a duration parameter is integer{Y|M|W|D|H|m|s}. For example, 2D indicates 2 days; 2W indicates 2 weeks.
    • Other options use a definitive time.

For information about how to create a filter and filter options, see the isi filepool policies create reference page.

  • You may specify optional parameters that control aspects of data retention, data accessibility, and cache settings. For information about the parameters, see the table in File pool policy cloud archive parameters.
The following example creates a file pool policy with the name archive and the CloudPool storage target S3_pool. The command specifies a file-matching pattern to archive all files in a specified directory path that have not been accessed after November 30, 2019.
isi filepool policies create archive --cloud-pool S3_pool
--begin-filter --name="*.*" --and --path="/ifs/home/users"
--and --accessed-time=2019-11-30 --operator=lt --end-filter
