Removing the System board

NOTE This system cannot be disassembled further. To access underlying components, replace the base assembly as per order details.
  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. Batteries
    2. Bottom chassis cover
    3. Keyboard
    4. PCIe heatsink assembly
    5. Docking port assembly
    6. Primary SSD
    7. Heat Sink
    8. Memory
    9. WLAN card
    10. WWAN card
    11. GPS module
    12. Primary SSD rail
    13. Battery bay
    14. Rear I/O board
  3. Peel off the tape [1] and disconnect the touch pad connector from the system board [2].

  4. Peel off the tape [1] and remove the rear I/O board FPC cable [2] from the system board.
  5. Peel off the tape [3] and remove the battery indicator LED cable [4] from the system board.
  6. Peel off the tape [5] and remove the docking board FPC connector [6] from the system board.

  7. Peel off the tape [1] and disconnect the left I/O board FPC connector [2] from the system board.

  8. Peel off the tape [1] and disconnect the power button cable [2].
  9. Peel off the tape [3] to disconnect the USH board and touch pad cable [4] from the system board.

  10. Remove the two 'M2*3' screws [1] and remove the EDP bracket [2] from the system board.
  11. Remove the EDP cable using the black pull tag [3] and disconnect the DC-in cable [4] from the system board.

  12. CAUTION The following epoxy screw locations will require additional focus. These screws are difficult to remove and there may be damage during the removal process. To prevent damage to the screws and surrounding plastics, please use the correct screwdriver for each screw type.
    Remove the two epoxy cap screws in the rear I/O space [1].
  13. Remove the two 'M2.5*5' screws and two 'M1.6*3.0' screws [2] to remove the USB Type-C bracket [3] from the system board.

  14. Remove the eight 'M2.5*5' screws [1] and single 'M2*3' screw [2] on the system board and remove the system board from the chassis [3].
