Removing the IO Board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the SD Card.
  3. Remove the base cover.
  4. Disconnect the battery.
  5. Remove the WLAN card.
  6. Remove the WWAN card.
NOTE Hall Sensor is a part of the IO board and the entire IO board needs to be replaced if the Hall Sensor is faulty.

Steps

  1. Remove the three (M2x3) screws from the left hinge and lift the hinge up.
  2. Peel back the adhesive tape covering the IO board connector cable and disconnect it from the system board.
  3. Disconnect the cable connectors from the IO board in the following order (left - right): USB data cable, Coin-cell battery cable, Audio FFC cable.
  4. Remove the single (M2x5) screw that is holding the IO board in place and lift the module away from the computer.
