Installing the expansion card riser

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
  2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
  3. If applicable, install the expansion card in the expansion card riser.
  4. Open the expansion card riser latch.

Steps

  1. If applicable, remove the expansion card riser filler bracket by performing the following steps:
    1. Open the blue expansion card retention latch lock.
    2. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, remove the screw securing the expansion card riser filler to the system board.
    3. Slide the expansion card riser filler bracket up and out of the system.

  2. Align the guide on the expansion card riser with the guide pin on the chassis.
  3. Lower the expansion card riser until the expansion card riser is firmly seated in the slot.
  4. Close the expansion card riser latch.
