Removing the Keyboard

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. battery
    2. base cover
    3. keyboard trim
  3. Remove the screws and lift the battery bay of the computer.

  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Lift the keyboard-backlight cable latch [1].
    2. Remove the cable from the system board [2].
    3. Lift the trackstick cable latch [3].
    4. Remove the cable from the system board [4].
    5. Lift the keyboard cable latch [5].
    6. Remove the cable from the system board [6].
    7. Lift the touchpad cable latch [7].
    8. Remove the cable from the system board [8].

  5. Flip the computer and remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the computer. Lift the keyboard from the computer.
