Mode-specific guidelines

The configurations allowed depend on the memory mode selected in the System BIOS.

Optimizer Mode

This mode supports Single Device Data Correction (SDDC) only for memory modules that use x4 device width. It does not impose any specific slot population requirements.

NOTE
  • Normal DIMM population rule:
    • Single processor systems: Slot 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
  • DIMM population changed when Performance Optimized Mode is ordered and there is a quantity of 4 or 8 DIMMs per processor.
    • With DIMM quantity of 4, the population with 1 processor is slot 1, 3, 5, 7
      • Dual processor system: Processor 2 population must match Processor 1 population.
    • With DIMM quantity of 8, the population with 1 processor is slot 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
      • Dual processor system: Processor 2 population must match Processor 1 population.
