How to replace the Fan Assembly on a OptiPlex Micro 3000

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Fan Assembly on a OptiPlex Micro 3000.

Removal

Side Cover

1. Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
2. Loosen the thumb screw that secures the side cover to the system.
3. Slide and lift the side cover off the system.

Speaker

1. Identify the speaker highlighted in blue.
2. Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
3. Unroute the speaker cable from the routing guides on the fan assembly.
4. Press the release tab and lift the speaker along with the cable from the system.

Fan Assembly

1. Identify the fan assembly highlighted in blue.
2. Press and hold the tabs that secure the fan assembly to the system.
3. Slide and lift the fan assembly off the system and flip over the fan assembly.
4. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
5. Lift the fan assembly off the system.

Install

Fan Assembly

1. Identify the fan assembly location highlighted in blue.
2. Align and place the fan assembly near the system.
3. Connect the fan cable to its connector on the system board.
4. Flip over the fan assembly.
5. Press the release tab, place the fan assembly into the slot on the system and release the tabs.

Speaker

1. Identify the speaker location highlighted in blue.
2. Align and install the speaker into the slot and press it until the release tab clicks.
3. Route the speaker cable through the routing guides on the fan assembly.
4. Connect the speaker cable to its connector on the system board.

Side Cover

1. Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Place and slide the side cover towards the back of the system.
