Removal
System Cover
Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
Using a 1/4 inch flat head or a phillips #2 screwdriver rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
Lift the cover from the system.
Drive backplane cover
Identify the drive backplane cover highlighted in blue.
Slide the backplane cover in the direction of the arrows marked on the drive backplane cover.
Lift the backplane cover from the system.
Air Shroud
Identify the air shroud highlighted in blue.
Hold the edges of the air shroud, and lift the air shroud out of the system.
Cooling fans
Select the cooling fan you want to replace.
Holding the orange touch points, lift the fan out of the system.
Drive backplane
Identify the drive backplane highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw on the cable guiding latch and lift the latch to remove the cables.
Open the latch to unroute the cable from the system.
Disconnect the drive backplane cable from the connector on the system board.
Press the blue release tabs to disengage the drive backplane from the hooks on the system.
Lift and pull the drive backplane out of the system.
Using a phillips #2 screwdriver, loosen the screws on the front PERC module.
Slide the front PERC module to disengage from the connector on the drive backplane. After performing the steps, the drive backplane remains.
Rear mounting PERC battery
Position the drive backplane assembly as shown.
Identify the rear mounting front PERC module battery highlighted in blue.
Using a phillips #2 screwdriver, loosen the screws that secure the front PERC module to the backplane assembly.
Slide the front PERC module to disengage from the connector on the drive backplane.
Flip the front PERC module.
Disconnect the battery power cable from the front PERC card.
Tilt and lift the battery holder assembly from the front PERC shroud.
Press and remove the battery from the battery holder.
Install
Rear mounting PERC battery
Position the drive backplane assembly as shown.
Identify the rear mounting front PERC module battery location highlighted in blue.
Insert the battery tab into the battery holder and ensure the battery is firmly seated.
Tilt the battery holder assembly to align the tabs with the front PERC shroud.
Press the battery holder assembly on to the front PERC shroud.
Connect the battery power cable to the front PERC card.
Flip the front PERC module.
Align the connectors on the front PERC module with the connectors on the drive backplane.
Slide the front PERC module until the module is connected to the drive backplane.
Using a phillips #2 screwdriver, tighten the screws that secure the front PERC module to the backplane assembly.
Drive backplane
Identify the drive backplane location highlighted in blue.
Slide the front PERC module until the module is connected to the drive backplane.
Using a phillips #2 screwdriver, tighten the screws on the front PERC module.
Use the guides on the system to align the slots on the backplane.
Insert the backplane into the guides and lower the backplane until the blue release tabs clicks into place.
Route the cables properly through the cable guide and close the latch to secure the cable.
Close the cable guiding latch and tighten the screw.
Connect the drive backplane cable to the connector on the system board.
Cooling fans
Identify the cooling fan location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the fan module connector horizontally with the connector on the system board.
Press the orange touch point on the cooling fan module until firmly connected.
Air Shroud
Identify the air shroud location highlighted in blue.
Holding the edges of the air shroud, align the tabs on the air shroud with the slots on the system.
Lower the air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.
Drive backplane cover
Identify the drive backplane cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the drive backplane cover with the guide slots on the system.
Slide the drive backplane cover to the front of the system until the drive backplane cover fits into place.
System Cover
Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system and slide the system cover.
Close the system cover release latch.
Using a 1/4 inch flat head or phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the lock position.
