How to replace the Hard Drive - 2.5 inch on a PowerEdge XE9680L

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Hard Drive - 2.5 inch and a PowerEdge XE9680L. The procedure will also include removing the Front Bezel, Drive carrier and reinstalling them.

Removal

Front Bezel

Identify the front bezel highlighted in blue.

Unlock the front bezel with the key.

Press the release button and pull the left end of the front bezel.

Unhook the right end and remove the front bezel.

Drive carrier

Select the drive carrier you want to replace.

Press the release button to open the release handle.

Holding the handle, slide the drive carrier out of the drive slot.

Hard Drive - 2.5 inch

Identify the drive highlighted in blue.

Remove the screws from the slide rails on the drive carrier.

Lift the drive out of the drive carrier.

Install

Hard Drive - 2.5 inch

Identify the drive location highlighted in blue.

Insert the drive with the drive connector facing the rear of the carrier.

Install the screws to secure the drive to the drive carrier.

Drive carrier

Confirm the drive carrier you want to replace.

Press the release button on the front of the drive carrier to open the release handle.

Insert the drive carrier into the slot and slide until it connects with the backplane.

Close the drive carrier release handle to lock the drive in place.

Front Bezel

Identify the front bezel location highlighted in blue.

Hook the right end of the front bezel onto the system.

Fit the free end of the front bezel onto the system.

Lock the front bezel with the key.
