Removal
Power Supply Units
Front Bezel
Identify the front bezel highlighted in blue.
Unlock the front bezel with the key.
Press the release button and pull the left end of the front bezel.
Unhook the right end and remove the front bezel.
Front Top Cover
Identify the front top cover highlighted in blue.
Using a flathead or Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise.
Lift the latch until the front top cover slides back.
Hold the cover on both sides and lift it away from the system.
Rear Top cover
Identify the rear top cover highlighted in blue.
Lift the rear top cover from the system in the direction of the marked arrows.
Support Bracket
Identify the support bracket highlighted in blue.
Move the cables away from the support bracket.
Pull the plunger on either side of the installed support bracket to unlock it.
Lift the support bracket to remove it from the system.
Air Shroud
Identify the air shroud highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the cables from the power distribution board.
Unroute the cables from the air shroud.
Pinch and hold the air shroud from the middle and lift it from the system.
Cooling fan cage assembly
Identify the cooling fan cage assembly highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw on the latch that secures the cables.
Open the latch that secures the cables.
Unroute the cables from the cooling fan cage.
Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, loosen the screws to unlock the cooling fan cage assembly.
Lift the cooling fan cage assembly from the system.
PSU Cage
Identify the PSU cage highlighted in blue.
Disconnect all the cables from the power distribution board. Unroute cables from the the latch.
Using both hands, slowly rotate and pull up the PSU cage handle.
Hold the handle and the rear of the PSU cage, then lift it away from the system.
BOSS Cage
Identify the BOSS cage highlighted in blue.
Using both hands, pull up the plunger and hold the BOSS cage.
Slide the BOSS cage toward the rear of the system to unlock from the key slot.
Lift the BOSS cage from the system.
Drive carrier
Select the drive carrier you want to replace.
Press the release button to open the release handle.
Holding the handle, slide the drive carrier out of the drive slot.
Drive Backplane
Identify the drive backplane highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the drive backplane cables from the backplane.
Press the blue release tabs to disengage the drive backplane from the hooks on the system.
Lift and pull the drive backplane out of the system.
Hard Drive Cage
Expansion Card
Identify the expansion card highlighted in blue.
Rotate the PSBB retention latch upward to unlock.
Hold the expansion card by the edges and pull it out from the riser.
GPU Fan Cage Assembly
Identify the GPU fan cage assembly highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the GPU fan cage assembly.
Lift the GPU fan cage assembly from the system.
GPU Sled
Identify the GPU sled highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws on the side of the chassis to release the GPU sled.
Loosen the thumb screws that secure the GPU sled latch.
Rotate the handles and slowly pull the GPU sled toward the rear of the system.
Install the GPU sled handles to help slide out the remaining GPU sled.
Holding the GPU sled handles, slide the GPU sled out to remove it from the chassis.
Processor and Direct Liquid Cooling module
Identify the processor and direct liquid cooling module highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the cooling tube clamp to the system.
Open the cooling tube clamp that secures the tubes.
Unroute the tubes from the cooling tube clamp.
Loosen the first and second screws three turns.
Loosen the third and fourth screws completely.
Loosen the first and second screws completely.
Set all the anti-tilt wires to the unlocked position (inward).
Lift the processor and direct liquid cooling module from the system.
Versabay board (VSB)
Identify the versabay board (VSB) highlighted in blue.
Lift the plunger and slide the VSB tray toward the rear of the system.
Lift the VSB tray out of the system.
Remove the screws and lift the busbar on the VSB and PIB boards.
Remove the screws that secure the VSB board to the VSB tray.
Lift the VSB from the VSB tray.
Control panel - Left
Identify the left control panel highlighted in blue.
Open the latch and unroute the cables to access the control panel cable port.
Disconnect the control panel cable from the system board.
Unroute the left control panel cable from the side wall of the system.
Remove the screws that secure the left control panel and the cable cover to the system.
Holding the cable, slide the left control panel out of the system.
Control panel - Right
Identify the right control panel highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the right control panel cable and the VGA cable from the connectors on the system board.
Unroute the right control panel cable from the side wall of the system.
Remove the screws that secure the right control panel and cable cover to the system.
Holding the right control panel and VGA cable assembly, slide the right control panel out of the system.
System Memory
Select the system memory you want to replace.
Push the ejectors outward to release the memory module from the socket.
Lift and remove the memory module from the system.
System board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Disconnect and unroute the cable from the system board.
Disconnect the left and right control panel cables from the system board.
Using a holder and plunger to slide the board forward, then tilt and lift it out of the chassis.
Mid Plane
Identify the midplane highlighted in blue.
Open the two plungers that secure the midplane.
Slide toward the front of the server and remove the midplane from the chassis.
PCIe Switch Baseboard
Identify the PCIe switch baseboard highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws on the side of the chassis to release the GPU sled.
Loosen the thumb screws that secure the GPU sled latch.
Rotate the handle and slowly pull the GPU sled toward the rear of the system.
Remove guide panels on both the left and right side of the system.
Loosen the screw that secures the PCIe switch baseboard.
At a tilted angle, lift the PCIe switch baseboard out of the chassis.
PSBB Cables Routings
Identify the PSBB cable routings highlighted in blue.
Open the latches that hold the PSBB cables in place.
Remove the PSBB cables from the system.
Chassis
After all the parts are removed, the chassis remains.
Install
Chassis
Place the chassis on a clean, flat surface.
PSBB Cables Routings
Identify the PSBB cable routings location highlighted in blue.
Place the PSBB cables on the system.
Close the latches that secure the PSBB cables in place.
PCIe Switch Baseboard
Identify the PCIe switch baseboard location highlighted in blue.
At a tilted angle, insert the PCIe switch baseboard into the chassis.
Tighten the screw that secures the PCIe switch baseboard.
Install guide panels on both the left and right sides of the system.
Rotate the GPU sled latch inward to completely slide the GPU sled into the chassis.
Tighten the thumb screws that secure the GPU sled latch.
Install the screws on the side of the chassis to lock the GPU sled.
Mid Plane
Identify the midplane location highlighted in blue.
Install the midplane on the chassis and slide it towards the rear of the server.
Close the two plungers that secure the midplane.
System board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Use a holder and plunger to place the board on the chassis, then slide it back until it clicks and locks.
Connect the left and right control panel cables to the system board.
Route and connect the cable to the system board.
System Memory
Confirm the memory module you want to replace.
Align the memory module’s edge connector with the socket key and insert it into the socket.
Press the memory module with your thumbs until the socket levers click firmly into place.
Control panel - Right
Identify the right control panel location highlighted in blue.
Align and slide the right control panel into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the right control panel and the cable cover to the system.
Route the right control panel cable through the side wall of the system.
Connect the right control panel cable and VGA cable to the connectors on the system board.
Control panel - Left
Identify the left control panel location highlighted in blue.
Align and slide the left control panel into the slot on the system.
Install the screws to secure the left control panel and the cable cover to the system.
Route the left control panel cable through the side wall of the system.
Connect the left control panel cable to the connector on the system board.
Route the cables throught side wall bracket latch and close the latch.
Versabay board (VSB)
Identify the versabay board (VSB) location highlighted in blue.
Align and install the Versabay board on the VSB tray.
Install the screws to secure the VSB onto the VSB tray.
Install the busbar and screws on the VSB and PIB boards.
Align the VSB tray to the system board, lift the plunger, and slide it toward the front of the system.
Processor and Direct Liquid Cooling module
Identify the processor and direct liquid cooling module locations highlighted in blue.
Place the processor and direct liquid cooling module onto the system.
Set the anti-tilt wires to the locked position (outward).
Partially tighten the first and second screws (approximately three turns).
Tighten the third and fourth screws completely.
Tighten the first and second screws completely.
Route the tubes through the cooling tube clamp.
Close the cooling tube clamp to secure the tubes.
Tighten the screw that secures the cooling tube clamp to the system.
GPU Sled
Identify the GPU sled location highlighted in blue.
Press the release latches, then slide the GPU sled halfway into the chassis using the handles.
Remove the GPU sled handles by pulling the thumb screws and sliding them out.
Rotate the GPU sled handles inward to completely slide the GPU sled into the chassis.
Tighten the thumb screws that secure the GPU sled handles.
Install the screws on the side of the chassis to lock the GPU sled.
GPU Fan Cage Assembly
Identify the GPU fan cage assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align it with the screw holes and place the GPU fan cage assembly into the system.
Tighten the screws that secure the GPU fan cage assembly.
Expansion Card
Identify the expansion card location highlighted in blue.
Rotate the PSBB retention latch upward to unlock.
Hold the card by its edges and insert it into the connector until it locks in place.
Rotate the PSBB retention latch downward to lock.
Hard Drive Cage
Drive Backplane
Identify the drive backplane location highlighted in blue.
Align and insert the backplane into the guides, then lower it until the blue release tabs click into place.
Connect the drive backplane cables to the backplane.
Drive carrier
Confirm the drive carrier you want to replace.
Press the release button on the front of the drive carrier to open the release handle.
Insert the drive carrier into the slot and slide until it connects with the backplane.
Close the drive carrier release handle to lock the drive in place.
BOSS Cage
Identify the BOSS cage location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the BOSS cage on the system.
Slide the BOSS cage toward the front of the system until it clicks into place to lock from a key slot.
PSU Cage
Identify the PSU cage location highlighted in blue.
Using both hands, slowly rotate and pull up the PSU cage handle.
Hold the handle and the rear of the PSU cage, then insert it into the system.
Rotate the handle down to the locked position.
Connect the cables to the power distribution board. Route the cables through the latch.
Cooling fan cage assembly
Identify the cooling fan cage assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align it with the screw holes and place the cooling fan cage assembly onto the system.
Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, tighten the screws to lock the cooling fan cage assembly.
Route the cables through the cooling fan cage.
Close the latch that secures the cables.
Tighten the screw on the latch that secures the cables.
Air Shroud
Identify the air shroud location highlighted in blue.
Pinch and hold the air shroud from the middle, and place it onto the system.
Route the cables through the air shroud.
Connect the cables to the power distribution board.
Support Bracket
Identify the support bracket location highlighted in blue.
Align the bracket’s guide slots with the system guides, then press until the plungers click into place.
Place the cables on the support bracket.
Rear Top cover
Identify the rear top cover location highlighted in blue.
Align with the tabs, then slide the rear top cover forward until it fits into place.
Front Top Cover
Identify the front top cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the front top cover with the guide slots on the system.
Push the front top cover latch down.
Using a 1/4-inch flathead or a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise.
Front Bezel
Identify the front bezel location highlighted in blue.
Hook the right end of the front bezel onto the system.
Fit the free end of the front bezel onto the system.
Lock the front bezel with the key.
