HPC has been for many years a domain of large enterprises and academic/research institutions. With the broadening portfolio of available hardware, software and new data analytical and modelling trends (primarily due to data monetization), like Big Data, DL or ML, the demand for this technology is visible also in organizations of any size and across industries.
What hasn’t changed is the high demand on computing power and fast processing of the data in CPU and memory. The new technologies introduced in the latest generation of Dell PowerEdge servers powered by AMD EPYC processors enable a faster adoption for customers, thanks to high core counts in CPUs (up to 64 cores per socket), high memory capacity and fast IO capabilities with PCIe Gen4.
Constant is also the need to host these technologies in dense environments with maximum number of cores, memory capacity in a limited footprint. This leads to use of high density (or density optimized) solutions like the PowerEdge C6525, enabling up to 4 two-socket nodes in a 2U form factor, having up to 512 cores and up to 8TB of Memory in 2U. These density requirements are often combined with liquid cooling to optimize energy efficiency.
