The Enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment, or ePSA, is a BIOS feature which helps diagnose hardware issues. It scans system memory, hard drive, optical drive and several other components To start the ePSA, power on your computer and tap 'F12' at the Dell logo.
Select 'Diagnostics' from the one-time boot menu. Press 'Enter' to begin. Starting with the LCD, all of the hardware components will be scanned. This test lasts a few minutes, and pointing devices will be disabled. The device being tested will be highlighted on the left. You can view the test progress at the bottom of the screen.
Once complete, you will be prompted to run extended memory tests. Hit 'ESC' to Abort at any point to run tests on a specific device. Select the device you wish to test, and select 'Thorogh Test Mode'if required. The 'Thorough Test Mode' runs extended diagnostics and usually is only necessary if advised by a Dell technician.
Click 'Run Test' to begin. If an issue is detected, the test will halt and provide an error code. Give this to a Dell Technician for a solution. Thank you for watching.
