In this video, we will look at troubleshooting your Dell when it does not complete the Power-On Self Test, or a POST. Does your desktop computer refuse to start up?
Do you see a blank screen, but can hear the fan and see the Power button or other LEDs lit? The first step is to disconnect all peripherals except the keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
If your Dell starts to function, connect the peripherals back one at a time until you locate the one that is causing your computer to malfunction.
If the issue persists, disconnect the power cord to the computer. Press and hold the Power button for ten seconds. This will help discharge stored power in the capacitors which may prevent the system from starting.
Connect the cord and try powering on. Did that help? If not, ensure that the monitor is receiving power and the display cable is securely connected to the correct output.
You can also try toggling between different input sources on the monitor. Is the system still malfunctioning? Do you hear beeps when the computer is powering on?
If yes, the number of beeps will help identify a solution. Note it down for reference and contact Dell Technical Support for further assistance.
Thank you for watching.
