In this video you will learn how to build an XML Server Configuration Profile to use with your iDRAC9. Please be aware, that everything added to the SCP will overwrite the current server configuration, this includes RAID, BIOS and also NIC config.
You can easily configure your server via iDRAC using a server configuration profile. Here is how to build one. Importing the Server Configuration Profile will override the selected attributes in the current configuration, including the RAID Configuration if these are added to the “Server Configuration Profile”. Dell Technologies is not responsible for any misconfiguration using this feature.
For more information, please refer to the User Manual. In this example we will configure the telemetry feature of iDRAC9 version 4.0 and above. Login to your iDRAC and go to “Configuration”, “Server Configuration Profile” and then “Export”. For our example we choose iDRAC at export components. Open the downloaded file in your browser.
Now search for the attributes you want to configure. And take a note of the top-level component. Open your XML editor of choice and create a new file. You need to begin with "SystemConfiguration" followed by "Component" adding the top-level component noted. After this, paste the attributes you want to configure.
You can change the feature attributes you want to use to enabled and configure them by editing the specific attributes. For example, we configure the Port of “Server1” to 1468. For additional Information about Telemetry attributes, check the link in the video description. Now save the file as “.XML”. After the file is saved, you can import it to the iDRAC.
