This video explains how to enable FEFD on the interface. To configure FEFD in the normal mode, type “FEFD, space, mode, space, normal” in the interface mode. Also, to view the current FEFD mode at the interface level, type “show, space, FEFD, space” and then enter the interface name.
To enable FEFD in the aggressive mode, type “FEFD, space, mode, space, aggressive” in the interface mode. To check the FEFD mode, type “show, space, FEFD, space” and then enter the interface name. When you enable normal mode on an interface and a far-end failure is detected, no intervention is required to reset the interface to bring it back to an FEFD-operational state. When you enable aggressive mode on an interface, manual intervention is required to reset the interface.
When the system detects a far-end failure in FEFD aggressive mode, the interface moves to an error-disabled state. To bring back the interface to an operational state, type “FEFD, space, reset”. Note that by default, FEFD is enabled in the normal mode. To define the FEFD interval after the FEFD is enabled at the interface level, type “FEFD, space, interval, space” and then enter the value. Ensure that you define the interval in seconds and that the range is from three to 255 seconds. For more information, refer to the Dell EMC SmartFabric OS10 User Guide at Dell.com/Support.
