How to find serial numbers for PowerScale or Isilon nodes. Reference Dell Knowledge Article # 20536. This video was created to show how to get the serial number of a node or Software Identifier (SWID) of a cluster in a number of different ways: From the sticker on the node for the serial number, the Web User Interface, and the Command Line Interface (CLI).
The serial number is required if contacting technical support for hardware technical assistance. Before you begin, you must have appropriate credentials, usually root, for the Web User Interface and CLI access to the host.
And you must have a SSH Client, such as PuTTY, installed. Demonstration of how to get a Node Serial Number via the Web User Interface. Log in to the "OneFS" web administration interface. Under "Status," click "Node ID number". Serial number is located under "Status".
Let's do this for another node. Click "Cluster status" to select a different node ID. Again, "Serial number" is located under "Status". Demonstration of how to get a Cluster SWID via the Web User Interface.
Click on "Cluster management". Select "Licensing". Under the section "OneFS license ID", it will show the software ID. Demonstration of how to get a Node Serial Number via CLI. Log in as root. Run the "isi_for_array" and "egrep" on "serial number".
If you want the product and the serial number, run the "isi_for_array" and "egrep" on "serial number" and "product". Demonstration of how to get a Cluster SWID via CLI. Log in as root.
Run the "isi license list" command with "grep -i" option on "onefs license". Demonstration of how to find the serial number on the physical node. On the back, there will be a label with the serial number.
On newer models, there may be a tab on the front you can slide out to find the serial number. This may also have a QR code you can scan.
On the A100 model, remove the cover and pull out the tab on the upper left corner. If there are multiple stickers, the blue sticker contains the serial number you need.
