Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety instructions.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals.
Opening the drive bays:
If locked, unlock the drive bay lock located above the left release latch, by pushing it up.
Open the release latches of drive bay 1 and pull the drive bays out.
Removing a drive carrier:
Press the release button to open the drive carrier release handle.
Holding the handle, slide the drive carrier out of the drive slot.
Closing the drive bays:
Pull back the blue release tabs on both sides and slide the drive bays into the system, until both the bays lock into place.
If required, lock the drive bay lock located above left release latch, by pushing it down.
Removing a power supply unit:
Press the release latch and slide the PSU out of the system by using the PSU handle.
Remove the system from the rack and place it on an ESD work bench
Removing the drive bay 2 backplane brackets:
Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the screws on the top of the drive bay 2, securing the backplane brackets.
Disconnect the cables of the cable chain assembly connected to the backplane.
Slide the brackets to the right to disengage them from the slots on the bay base in drive bay 2.
Lift the right bracket away from the system and move the left bracket away from the drive bay.
Disconnect all the cables from the backplane.
Removing the drive bay 2 backplane:
Using Phillips #2 screwdriver, remove all the screws securing the backplane.
Hold the backplane by the edges and remove it from the bay.
Installing the drive bay 2 backplane:
Align the backplane to the guiding pins in the bay.
Using Phillips #2 screwdriver, tighten all the screws to secure the backplane.
Connect all the cables to the backplane.
Installing the drive bay 2 backplane brackets:
Align the backplane brackets with the slots at the bay base in drive bay 2.
Slide the brackets to the right until the brackets are firmly seated and lock into the place.
Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, replace the screws on top of the drive bay 2.
Closing the drive bays:
Pull back the blue release tabs on both sides and slide the drive bays into the system, until both the bays lock into place.
If required, lock the drive bay lock located above left release latch, by pushing it down.
Place the system into the rack.
Opening the drive bays:
If locked, unlock the drive bay lock located above the left release latch, by pushing it up.
Open the release latches of drive bay 1 and pull the drive bays out
Installing a drive carrier:
Press the release button on the front of the drive carrier to open the release handle.
Insert and slide the drive carrier into the drive slot.
Close the drive carrier release handle until it clicks in place.
Installing a power supply unit:
Slide the PSU into the PSU bay until the PSU is fully seated and the release latch snaps into place.
Installing the front bezel:
Align and insert the tabs on the right end of the bezel into the slots on the system.
NOTE:Ensure that the drive bay is locked before installing the front bezel, for more information see closing the drive bays section.
Fit the left end of the bezel onto the system and press the bezel until you hear the release button click.
Lock the bezel.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet.
Power on the attached peripherals and then power on the system.
