In this video, we show how to replace the memory module on your computer. Before removing the memory module. Before you begin, create a recovery drive and backup all data. Turn off the computer after the data backup is completed. Disconnect all the attached peripherals. Also ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the computer.
Loosen the captive screw the side cover to the chassis. Pull the latch, release the side cover and lift the cover away from the chassis. Pry the front cover tabs from top to bottom to release the front cover. Rotate the front cover outward from the chassis and remove it.
Disconnect the cables from the hard disk drive. Lift the drive bay from the rear to release the tabs from the chassis. Slide and remove the drive bay from the chassis. Pull down the securing clip on each end of the memory module slot. Hold the module by its sides and pull it out from the slot. Repeat this step for the second module, if applicable. Now let's install the memory module. Ensure the memory module securing clips are pulled open. Apply the notch of the memory module with the tab on the slot.
Press the memory module into the slot until it snaps into position. Slide and secure the drive bay to the front of the chassis. Press down the other end of the drive bay to secure the rear tabs with the slots on the chassis. Connect the cables to the hard disk drive on the drive bay. Align it. Insert the front cover tabs into the slots on the right side of the chassis. Rotate the front cover clockwise until it snaps into place.
Align the tabs on the left side cover with the slots on the chassis and slide the cover forward. Tighten the two captive screws that secure the cover to the chassis. For more information or support on your computer visit: Dell.com/Support.
