How to Use Virtual Media in iDRAC9

The virtual media feature lets you mount ISO files to update firmware or install an OS. The ISO can be on your local machine, a network share or on a removable disk connected to the server itself.

Here's how to mount an ISO image in iDRAC9 to perform firmware updates or install an OS. Log in to iDRAC, then click "Launch Virtual Console". Then click connect “Virtual Media”. 

An ISO can be loaded from your local machine, a network share, or removable media connected to the server itself. Click "Browse", select your ISO, then click "Map Device". To boot from the ISO, click "Boot", then select "Virtual CD/DVD/ISO" and power on or reboot the server.
