To perform a clean boot in Windows 11, click on the Windows start button and type MS config into the search bar. Open the app's system configuration. In the general tab, choose selective startup. Unchecked load startup items. Then click on the services tab.
Check the box next to hide all Microsoft services. Click on disable all and then click OK. Restart the computer. After the restart, Windows will boot without any third party app in the background. Test the computer to see if it is running correctly. There are 2 ways to perform a system restore, either in support assist or directly in Windows. The recommended way is support assist.
Before you begin, note that the data on your device will be deleted during this process. Make sure you keep your system plugged in throughout the entire process. Restart your computer. At the Dell logo screen, repeatedly tap the F12 key to access the one time boot menu. Select the support assist OS recovery option.
If your system has the recovery image installed, you will be brought directly to the Support Assist OS recovery homepage. If you do not have the tool installed, Support Assist will instruct you to connect to the internet and download the recovery image tool.
Select your internet network, enter your password, and click Connect. Once your system is connected to the network, click on start recovery. The system will restart and automatically load the support assist OS recovery environment. Make sure you are connected to the internet by clicking on the network icon in the top right corner of the screen. Select start reset.
Check reset and update and click next. Choose whether you want support assist to transfer your data and settings to the new installation and click next. Confirm the information and click next again. Choose the storage device where you want to install Windows and click next. Confirm and click next to begin the reset process.
If you receive an error during the download process and your system is connected to the internet, clicking the retree button on the screen will re-attempt the connection to the server. After the process is complete, restart your computer and follow the on-screen instructions.
To perform a system restore in Windows 11, click on the start button and type System Restore into the search bar. Select Create a restore point. In the System properties window, click on System Restore, and then next. To view the apps that will be removed in this process, click on the scan for affected programs button.
Choose a restore point and then click on next and then finish. Confirm by clicking yes. Note that if you are not seeing any restore points, it might be because your system protection isn't turned on and there are no restore points available on your system. Also note that any software installed after the restore point will be lost.
Once you confirm, the restore point will apply and return the device to the previous good working state. Your computer will restart. To perform a system restore through advanced startup, turn on the computer. When you see the Dell logo, press and hold the power button to shut down the device. Repeat the process 3 times to enter advanced startup options.
the choose an options screen, select troubleshoot. On the troubleshoot screen, click Advanced Options. On the Advanced Options screen, choose System Restore. Select your restore point and click next. Click finish to confirm the restore point. Do not interrupt the process when it starts as it can corrupt your hard drive.
Once the process is complete, the computer will restart. If the most recent restore point does not resolve the issue, select another restore point.
