In this video, we'll review some tips to maximize thermal performance on your Dell Computer. First, you'll want to ensure your computer has Proper ventilation. Blocked air vents can cause performance issues by restricting airflow into and out of the system. Make sure your system's air vents are clear, and not obstructed by dust or other objects.
You can clean the air vents with a can of compressed air or a soft brush to clear dust Dust or debris. Make sure your system is used on a hard, flat surface. Such as a desk or table. Placing your laptop on soft surfaces, such as beds, carpets, Floors or couches can block airflow, causing overheating.
If you have a desktop, ensure there's enough space around it. Especially where the air vents are. Use SupportAssist to keep drivers up to date. If you're using a laptop, keep it plugged in to the charger throughout this entire process. Click the Windows Start button to search for and open SupportAssist.
In the Home tab, select Update Software and click Start. SupportAssist will search for available updates. When the search is complete, click View Updates under Report Summary. Click on Install and wait for SupportAssist to install the updates. The system may require a restart to finish the process. Download Dell Optimizer, Dell Power Manager, or MyDell to control your computer's thermal Performance.
To download one of these programs, Open a web browser and go to Dell.com/support. Identify your system by typing the Service Tag into the search bar. Once you have identified your system, go to Drivers and downloads. Click on Visit List next to access the complete list of drivers and downloads. Choose your operating system from the drop-down menu, and set the category as Application. Scroll down and click 'Download' next to either Dell Optimizer. Dell Power Manager Service, or MyDell.
Go to your Downloads folder in File Explorer and open the file. Accept any on-screen prompts and click Install. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. Once Dell Optimizer or Power Manager is installed on your computer, You'll need to set thermal profiles in either one of the apps. For Dell Optimizer, click the Windows Start button to search for and open Dell Optimizer.
Once in the app, go to Power. Expand thermal management to select a thermal profile. We recommend using the optimized or cool setting for regular computer use and Allowing Dell Optimizer to sync thermal management mode with Windows. This applies to Dell Optimizer and my Dell only. Choose Ultra Performance if the computer runs heavy-stress applications like video editing or gaming.
Once you have chosen your setting, Click the X on the top right of the window to exit the app. For Dell Power Manager, click the Windows Start button to search and open Dell Power Manager. In the application, go to Thermal Management to choose a thermal profile. Use Optimized or Cool for everyday use, and Ultra for heavy-stress applications.
Once you have selected your setting, click on the X at the top right of the window to exit The app. Manage your system's performance. Surface temperature and fan noise in my Dell. There are four settings to choose from. Optimized balances system performance, noise, and temperature. Cool raises fan speed to keep cooler surface temperature stable.
Your system may generate more noise and experience slower performance. Quiet lowers fan speed, which may reduce the system's performance and raise surface temp. Temperature. Ultra performance increases the processor speed. Fan speed to improve system's performance.
