Symptoms
SEC0031 - The chassis is open while the power is on. - LCD Message: Intrusion detected. Check chassis cover.

Cause
The machine has detected that the intrusion switch is open.
This can be a false positive message or a physical issue.

Resolution
These are the general troubleshooting steps that can resolve the matter if followed step by step:

- Turn off the machine.
- Check the chassis cover (and bezel)
- If either is not correctly installed, remove and reseat the system cover, ensure that it is flush with all edges, and that all thumbscrews are securely in place.
- Reseat the bezel.
- Open the chassis again, reseat the intrusion switch cable to the system board. Close the chassis again. Press the intrusion switch button by hand, and confirm the intrusion error clears.
Note: On some systems, the intrusion switch is located on the expansion card riser and requires reseating of the riser and all expansion cards.
- Download and install the latest BIOS, iDRAC, and CPLD firmware updates for the server.
- If the chassis intrusion error is still not resolved, contact the Dell Support Team to assist you further.
