Instructions

System Health may display a message "SN of item <x> is different, <sn-a> in IPMI <SN-B> SYM (KB#000196196)" in one of the following scenarios:

  • Running a System Check using PowerStore Manager (UI) with the System Check or the Run Upgrade Extensions option.
NOTE: The Run Upgrade Extensions option is only available in PowerStoreOS 2.1.x.

  • Running the System Health Service Script (svc_health_check) using an SSH connection:
[SVC:service@51X1BW2-A user]$ svc_health_check run -rhc component_sn_check
Name Location Status Description
Component SN Check node_a Failed SN of item Battery0: repo(IPMI)=ACPV9183200182, repo(SYM)=ACPV9183200100 (KB#000196196)
Component SN Check node_b Failed SN of item Battery1: repo(IPMI)=ACPV9183200182, repo(SYM)=ACPV9183200100 (KB#000196196)

The above message indicates that there is an inconsistency in the serial number (SN) for a replaceable component (FRU or CRU) in different subsystems of PowerStore.

When this issue exists, the PUHC check may fail and software update NDU will not be possible.
