How to Install McAfee LiveSafe from Dell

Affected Products:

• McAfee LiveSafe
• McAfee Multi-Device Security

A 30-day trial of McAfee LiveSafe is provided automatically on select consumer and commercial Dell computers running Windows. Customers may purchase a McAfee LiveSafe subscription:

• At the point of sale (POS) of a Dell computer
• After point of sale (APOS) of a Dell computer

POS

New Setup

McAfee LiveSafe is preinstalled on all commercial and consumer computers running Windows. On boot, McAfee LiveSafe is available directly in the Windows System Tray.

To register the product:

1. In the Windows Notification Area, click Show hidden files and then double-click the McAfee LiveSafe System Tray icon.
   
2. Click Get started.
   
3. Log In with a pre-existing McAfee or click Register Now to create an account.
   
   Note:

   • A McAfee account is generated during the initial setup of a McAfee subscription.
   • For issues accessing your McAfee account:
     • Validate the email that is used to tie to a McAfee subscription.
     • Dell technical support is unable to validate the email that is used to setup the McAfee subscription, to protect your privacy. Contact the vendor directly for assistance at https://service.mcafee.com/ .
4. Select Settings and then click My Subscription to verify your subscription status.
   
   Note: For any discrepancies with the subscription duration and the purchase duration, reference How to Get Support for McAfee Products Sold at Dell.

Reinstall

To install the product:

1. Go to https://www.mcafee.com/
2. In the upper right, click Login.
3. Sign in using your McAfee account.
   
   Note:

   • A McAfee account is generated during the initial setup of a McAfee subscription.
   • For issues accessing your McAfee account:
     • Validate the email that is used to tie to a McAfee subscription.
     • Dell technical support is unable to validate the email that is used to setup the McAfee subscription, to protect your privacy. Contact the vendor directly for assistance at https://service.mcafee.com/ .
4. Click Downloads & devices.
   
5. From the drop-down menu, select McAfee LiveSafe and then click Download.
   
6. Click Agree and Download.
   
7. On download, double-click McAfee_Installer_[BUILDER NUMBER].exe.
   Note: [BUILD NUMBER] = Serial Number
8. In the installation wizard, click Install.
   
9. On installation, click Done.
   
10. McAfee LiveSafe automatically launches. In the product, click Get Started to view the protection status.
    

APOS

New Purchase

To install the product:

1. Go to My Account.
2. Sign in to your Dell My Account using the email address used at the time of purchase or the address used to assign your software licenses. For questions about creating or updating a My Account login, see the My Account FAQ.
3. Click Software Licenses and Subscriptions on the menu and choose Software Licenses.

4. Click Download McAfee LiveSafe.
   
5. Click Get Key.
   
6. Document the License key.
   
7. Go to https://www.mcafee.com/activate .
8. Enter the License Key (step 6), Email, and then click Next.
   
   Warning:

   • The License Key can only be redeemed once.
   • On error "You already redeemed that code," go to the Reinstall section.
9. On successful redemption, click Next.
   
10. Optionally setup a recurring subscription or click Continue without additional benefits.
    
11. Click Download.
    
12. On download, double-click McAfee_Installer_[BUILDER NUMBER].exe.
    Note: [BUILD NUMBER] = Serial Number
13. In the installation wizard, click Install.
    
14. On installation, click Done.
    
15. McAfee LiveSafe automatically launches. In the product, click Get Started to view the protection status.
