Symptoms

가상 머신에 RDM 디스크가 있으면 가상 머신 백업을 위한 PowerProtect Data Manager 보호 작업이 실패합니다. 보호 계획에 백업에서 제외된 RDM 디스크가 있습니다.

장애 발생 시 다음 오류 메시지가 보고됩니다.

Error : Backup has FAILED. Unable to create snapshot. Unable to create non-quiesced snapshot after a retry attempt. Virtual machine is configured to use a device that prevents the snapshot operation: Device '' is a SCSI controller engaged in bus-sharing. (500) VADP is used as the data mover for the backup.
TSDM(Transparent Snapshot Data Mover)을 자산의 Data Mover로 선택하면 백업 작업이 VADP(VMware vStorage API for Data Protection)를 사용하여 실행됩니다. 

Cause

공유 SCSI 컨트롤러가 있는 가상 머신에서는 VADP 백업이 백업 정책에 공유되지 않은 디스크만 포함된 경우에도 지원되지 않습니다.

PowerProtect Data Manager 버전 19.13 이하에는 코드 결함이 있습니다. 이 결함은 백업에서 제외되었지만 여전히 RDM 디스크를 고려합니다. 따라서 백업 작업은 TSDM 대신 VADP를 사용하게 됩니다.

Resolution

PowerProtect Data Manager를 버전 19.14 이상으로 업그레이드하고 TSDM을 Data Mover로 사용하고 RDM 디스크를 제외합니다. 이를 통해 비공유 디스크를 백업할 수 있습니다.
