On the PowerProtect Data Manager server, adm service logs would have entries similar to the following:

HTTP: 400: Bad Request: "{\"Code\"400,\"reason\":\"Invalid FQDN\",\"remediation\":\"Please provide valid FQDN.\"}"

Failed to signing the CSR for FQDNs= [hostname.domain_name.com]

Failed to generate tls certs, aborting agent registration for hostname.domain_name.com

Cause

Fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for the client host contains an underscore. Underscore is not allowed in the fully qualified domain name for certificate signing requests.

Resolution

The product is working as per the design.
Signing and issuing certificates for domain name having underscore is against security practices.
