Connectrix: Cisco MDS: Must log SFP error or warning values when the threshold is crossed

Symptoms

The switch reports events when one of the SFP have crossed. If this repeats several times in the last day, there is no way to know what the value was at the time of the event.

Cause

This issue is seen when the SFP condition crosses specified digital optic monitoring thresholds and the logging log receives continuous alerts about the threshold levels. 


Affected NX-OS version:
9.4(1a)
8.4(2f)

Resolution

Workaround:

Adding the events to OBFL error-stats allow for automated analysis of events with the SFP voltage details. 

Steps involved:

1.Config t
2.hw-module logging onboard
3.hw-module logging onboard error-stats
4.copy running-config startup-config


Example:
