Windows Hello Does Not Function on the XPS 9640

Symptoms

The Windows Hello feature may become non-operational following a driver update. When attempting to use the login feature, Windows Hello attempts to activate, but the infrared cameras may stay off. This results in a notification indicating an error after a period or time.

Cause

This happens because the infrared driver is absent from the driver package.

Resolution

Camera Driver

To fix this issue, install the most recent camera driver that is available on the Dell Drivers & Downloads site.

Note: In the Category drop down, select camera to find the needed driver.
