Accessing the Data Domain System With CIFS (Domain)

SYMPTOMS

  • Prompted for authentication (username and password) when attempting to access a share.
  • Cannot connect or browse shares

  • All Data Domain systems
  • All DD OS Releases

SOLUTION

The following steps are ordered in the most appropriate sequence to identify the proper resolution for issues accessing the CIFS shares of the Data Domain system in Domain mode. Do not skip a step.

  1. Verify that the Data Domain system has joined the domain successfully 181313. If the Data Domain system can talk to the domain controller, it cannot authenticate the username and password.
  2. Verify that the File System is enabled 181308. If the file system on the Data Domain system is disabled, the backup share is not accessible.
  3. Verify that Network Connectivity is working properly 180564.
  4. Confirm that all client information is in the Access list. 181315 The Access list allows only the systems specified on it to access the export.
  5. Confirm if there is a duplicate IP issue in the network. 181860
Note: If your problem still exists after performing the steps in this article:
  • Set log level to 3 180555, try again
  • Then open case with support
